Education Team Leader Jobs Description

Role and responsibilities
The purpose of a Team Leader is to manage the Education project team at field office level.
The following is a brief description of the role.
Generic responsibilities (max 10)
These responsibilities shall be the same for all positions with the same title. The responsibilities shall be short and essential. Details belong in the Work- and Professional Development Plan.
Management of project staff
Implement plan of action for delegated portfolio of Education projects (activities, budget and project documentation)
Day to day follow of progress in project implementation
Ensure compliance with NRC policies, Education tools, handbooks and guidelines
Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need, and explore and asses new and better ways to assist
Promote and share ideas for technical improvement
Prepare periodic progress reports and other documents
Ensure capacity building of project staff and transfer key skills
Liaison and collaboration with relevant local authorities and stakeholders
Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy
Specific responsibilities
These responsibilities shall be adapted to the particularities of the job location and context, phase of operation, strategic focus and type of programme intervention. This section shall be revised whenever a new employee is hired or the context changes significantly.
Assist the PC in administration, logistics (including inventory, purchases and requisitions, quotations, as well as IT hardware / software support), coordination, execution and monitoring and evaluation.
Work in close collaboration with the NRC finance, admin and logistics teams and coordinate activities with the Food Security and Livelihoods, Shelter, and Information Counselling and Legal Assistance (ICLA) teams
Conduct internal weekly, monthly and quarterly meetings and collect accurate and updated information
Lead assessments and new initiatives for expansion of the program
Ensure that the Education office and NRC property are kept in good condition and organized
Break down annual operational plans into weekly, monthly and quarterly implementation plans
Ensure correct data collection and tracking of all emergency interventions and participate in compiling emergency related internal (bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly) and external (interim and final) reports
Lead in organizing and facilitating trainings programmes in psychosocial support, life skills, content and pedagogy. Including developing training programmes for teachers and CMCs and follow-up and support.
Determine resource materials required for effective teaching including improvised teaching and learning materials to supplement stationeries supplied to schools.
Develop and execute teacher support programme at school level together with Ministry of Education officials
Performance management of Education officers and assistants under your responsibility
Other relevant tasks as assigned by supervisor
Critical interfaces
By interfaces, NRC means processes and projects that are interlinked with other departments/units or persons. Relevant interfaces for this position are:
Project planning: Education Specialist
Area operations: Support Coordinators
Staff capacity building: Education Specialists, HR Manager/Officer
Implementation: Education Coordinator
Scale and scope of position
Staff: Numbers and titles of staff directly managed by the post holder, and numbers of staff and daily workers/incentive staff responsible for overall in the unit (e.g. 5 project officers and 1 education assistants)
Stakeholders: Key external stakeholders the post has relationships with (e.g. UN agencies, INGOs, local NGOs, civil society, governmental bodies)
Budgets: List of budgets covered by post holder, SSFM2326/SSFM2302/SSFM2103 & any other education project in Jonglei
Information: Brief description of the information resources the post holder is responsible for at Area level (e.g. GORS, Agresso, Webcruiter, Intranet)
Legal or compliance: Brief description of any legal or compliance responsibility the post holder has (term of employment, vendors, donors)
