Livelihood and Food Security Team Leader Jobs Description

Role and responsibilities
The purpose of a Team Leader is to manage the LFS project team at field office level.
The following is a brief description of the role.
Generic responsibilities (max 10)
These responsibilities shall be the same for all positions with the same title. The responsibilities shall be short and essential. Details belong in the Work- and Professional Development Plan.
Management of project staff
Implement plan of action for delegated portfolio of LFS projects (activities, budget, and project documentation)
Day to day follow of progress in project implementation.
Ensure compliance with NRC policies, FSL tools, handbooks, and guidelines.
Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need and explore and asses new and better ways to assist.
Promote and share ideas for technical improvement.
Prepare periodic progress reports and other documents.
Ensure capacity building of project staff and transfer key skills.
Liaison and collaboration with relevant local authorities and stakeholders
Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy.
Specific responsibilities
These responsibilities shall be adapted to the particularities of the job location and context, phase of operation, strategic focus, and type of programme intervention. This section shall be revised whenever a new employee is hired or the context changes significantly.
Assist LFS PC in administration, logistic (including inventory, purchases, and requisitions, as well as IT hardware / software support), coordination, execution and monitoring and evaluation of the Livelihood and Food Security projects in Akobo, South Sudan
Monitor, evaluate and suggest changes to improve LFS activities and approach in Jonglei.
Identify financial and logistical needs for training and project implementation and plan accordingly.
Coordinate field activities for targeted beneficiaries, including the preparation of information and presentation of materials and supervising logistical arrangements
Follow-up on weekly meeting and conduct monthly and quarterly meetings, collect accurate information and update his/her line manager of project progress.
Compile monthly and quarterly narrative reports on the activities and recommend action points and way forward.
Prepare and submit donor report.
Manage and monitor project budget to avoid underspending and overspending.
Directly supervise the Livelihood & Food Security team
Conduct Work & Development Plan (WDP) performance Management review meetings with LFS officers.
Ensure lesson learnt and success stories are collected and document.
Contribute to NRC’s strategy, action plan, advocacy agenda, and priorities for FSL project.
Contribute to the development of project proposals related to the country strategy plan.
Actively participate in meetings with humanitarian partners, authorities, beneficiary, and communities relevant to the FSL team, and represent NRC in a professional manner.
Do any other relevant tasks assign to by the direct supervisor.
Critical interfaces
By interfaces, NRC means processes and projects that are interlinked with other departments/units or persons. Relevant interfaces for this position are:
Project planning: FSL Specialist
Area operations: Support Coordinators (field office coordinators)
Staff capacity building: FSL Specialists, HR Officer & Logistics Officer

Scale and scope of position
Staff: Numbers and titles of staff directly managed by the post holder, is 4 project officers)
Stakeholders: Key external stakeholders the post has relationships with will be UN agencies, INGOs, local NGOs, civil society, governmental bodies
Budgets: The post holder is not a budget holder but will ensure implementation of projects in line with the following budgets SSFM2307
Information: Brief description of the information resources the post holder is responsible for at CO level is contribute to monthly report and biweekly monitoring tools

Fluency in English, both written and verbal

Must have degree in agriculture /agriculture economic, development studies etc
Knowledge of the context in Jonglei State
Knowledge in Community Mobilization or related field.
Knowledge of the Local language is an advantage.
