Logistics Assistant Assets & Warehouse Jobs Description

The Logistics Assistant – Assets & Warehouse is responsible for daily operations of the warehouse transactions in Thonyor and ensures all deliveries and receipts are correctly recorded in accordance with NRC and WFP regulations.
- Role and responsibilities
- Ensure warehouse is well organized to receive and stack commodities
- Supervise of offloading and loading by counting and in safe manner
- Sign waybills and ensure proper filing of warehouse documents
- Prepare weekly and/or on need basis stock report and share with PC/Warehouse Manager
- Ensure proper daily cleaning of the warehouse is done
- Monitor the expiry dates of various commodities and inform the supervisor for action in time
- Monitor the food status/infestation in the warehouse
- Timely/regularly update the supervisor on operational challenges and warehouse needed items
- Ensure safe and sufficient supervision of casual workers
- Ensure adherence to Logistics Handbook, other NRC policies and donor requirements
- Ensure the operations are in compliance with donor’s rules, NRC policies procedures
Specific responsibilities
The Logistics Assistant will be responsible for the following activities:

- Liaise fair recruitment of casuals for warehouse tasks: Offloading/loading, inventories, cleaning
- Complete required documentation before release of food for distributions
- Ensure proper cleaning of the warehouse
- Identification of warehouse needs and avail list of existing materials
- Conduct physical inventory
- Assess capacity of warehouse and alert supervisor for action forward
- Ensuring all team members are aware of the do’s and don’ts when undertaking field mission, e.g. Respect cultural norms, Do no harm, Confidentiality, Impartiality
- Ensure operational linkages with other UN Agency and NGO partners working in the area
- Other responsibilities as required by line management
- Competencies
Professional competencies
Generic professional competencies:
- Holder of higher school certificate
- Previous experience of at least 1 year from working as a storekeeper/Logistics Assistant in a humanitarian/recovery context
- Knowledge of donor rules in the view of commodity and warehouse management is an asset.
- Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
- Experience in establishing systems and procedures
- Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience:
- Knowledge of the local context
- Knowledge of English and Arabic is essential and other local languages is a strong advantage
